meet gener8tor

Three lucky Startup Weekend Milwaukee teams will win the opportunity to pitch to gener8tor, with the potential of becoming part of gener8tor’s next class! What does that mean?

I’ve asked Joel Abraham, Startup Weekend co-organizer and co-founder of gener8tor, to introduce us to this wonderful program:

“gener8tor makes entrepreneurship happen. We bring capital, expertise, mentors, network and community to startups so they have a place to call home and a group of people who are with them all of the way.

We take the very best in Wisconsin and invest in them in exchange for a small equity stake then put them through a 12-week program that immerses them into their business model in order. gener8tor’s program gets startups in front of their customer quickly so they can verify and validate that their on the right track.

The gener8tor program investment is more fully described below:
Capital: gener8tor invests approximately $20,000 in cash plus tens of thousands more in services and in-kind contributions in exchange for a small equity stake of between 6-10%.

Expertise: gener8tor focuses on software companies at the first stage. This means we’ve worked with dozens of companies as they go through the process of building and executing their business models.  We use these lessons to support the startups going through our portfolio.

Mentors: gener8tor provide specialized expertise in all the areas entrepreneur need to have decisions made. Because gener8tor is for entrepreneurs and by entrepreneurs, we pick those mentors who are best able to appreciate what it’s like to build a company for the first time and are best positioned to help get that done.

Network: gener8tor connects the startups in our program with the vast network of investors, mentors, experts, customers and other stakeholders necessary to help a startup grow.

Community: gener8tor provides a place for entrepreneurs to call home and be with like-minded people.  We believe community is one of the program’s best offerings and we’re proud to have built our program on a foundation of great people anxious to help others on a pay-it-forward basis.”

Gener8tor is holding its next program in January.  If you’re interested in learning more, please visit gener8tor online or contact me through email Joel: joel {at} gener8tor {dot} com
